Supporting your EIC Pathfinder Open (re-)submission with reviews or full proposal writing support
7th February 2025 at 9:29 am
The submission deadline for the 2025 EIC Pathfinder Open (PF-Open) call on 21 May 2025 is fast approaching with less than four months to go. As with previous years, we anticipate a highly competitive call following last year’s low success rate of just above 4%. Our recent review of topics funded under last year’s PF-Open call and the composition of the successful consortia provides valuable insights for crafting a strong proposal. Nevertheless, the key to success remains a groundbreaking idea and a compelling application.
Over the past three years, we at accelopment have been involved in five successful EIC Pathfinder applications, and we are currently supporting the implementation of these projects. Drawing on this experience, we can offer tailored support for your Pathfinder proposal in the following ways:
1. Full proposal writing support for new submissions
If you have an exciting idea and a competitive consortium in place but have not yet fully developed the conceptual foundations of your project and have not yet completed the main sections of the proposal, we offer our full-write support. Our services include:
- Overseeing the proposal writing process.
- Providing tailored templates and project-specific guidance.
- Collecting input from all partners for different proposal sections.
- Drafting substantial portions of the non-scientific parts of the proposal, including a detailed and impactful impact section with a comprehensive communication, dissemination, and exploitation plan.
- Ensuring the proposal complies with all administrative and financial requirements and completing the administrative forms in the Funding and Tenders Portal.
- Submitting the proposal before the deadline.
2. Extended reviews of new submissions
If you are further along in your proposal preparation and already have a well-developed excellence section and a detailed work plan, we offer extended review services. Our team can conduct a thorough multi-stage review, providing valuable suggestions and insights on how to strengthen the proposal. We will focus on refining the impact section and offering suggestions on any areas of improvement to make your submission stand out of the crowd.
3. Reviews and resubmission support
If you submitted a proposal to one of the previous EIC Pathfinder calls and received promising evaluation feedback, we can assist you with our review and resubmission support. Complementary to the evaluation summary report, we assess your previously submitted proposal, provide a detailed review and help you implement targeted revisions. This service is designed to maximise your chances of success in the resubmission by focusing on areas highlighted by the evaluators.
Proposal preparation timeline
Although the call is not yet open and the new Standard Application Form is not yet available, with less than four months remaining until the submission deadline, we recommend starting the proposal preparation process rather soon. A well-structured proposal requires time to develop, and starting now will allow you to refine your ideas and ensure a competitive edge.
Here are some critical questions to ask before you begin:
- Is your idea groundbreaking? Ensure your idea is novel, ambitious, and has a clear long-term vision and potential for significant impact.
- Are your core consortium partners confirmed? Verify that your partners meet the formal eligibility criteria and bring the necessary multidisciplinary expertise.
- Are you clear on your project’s objectives? It is important to define clear goals and expected results early in the process.
Once these foundational questions are addressed, you are ready to begin drafting your proposal. Below is a suggested timeline for proposal preparation over the next three months:
Do you have a breakthrough idea but are short on time?
